- I live in a small midwestern town, Clive, Iowa, USA. This blog is my collection of what I think is cool. Big stuff, small stuff, popular, and obscure stuff. Ideas, movements, products, people. The requirements? Uniqueness, quality, innovation, style, visual appeal or that X factor that just makes it cool with no way to explain why. I am a marketing/PR guy, parent of twins and living in an area that is so measurably average in tastes and preferences that we get test marketed all the time. So what's cool here may be cool in a lot of other places as well. We always vote first in presidential caucuses (we made Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama cool), much to the annoyance of many. We're the only state with both a Big 10 and Big 12 university. I live in the birthplace of Johnny Carson, Meredith Wilson (composer of The Music Man), John Wayne, the world's first digital computer (at Iowa State University), and the inventor of Kool-Aid. So maybe you could view this as a think tank--sans the heavy research-- for stuff that seems intellectually, functionally, aesthetically profound. In other words, cool...er... kuhl.
